Personally, I’ve given up on buying presents. Might be my age, but everyone I know has got to that point in their lives where they have everything they need, as opposed to ‘want’, and buying anything else is just adding more junk to their lives. Plus it gets very, very expensive. So we make things now - jams, preserves, sometimes crocheted stuff, etc. Some good advantages to this: 1) it’s a unique present because you’ve made it, 2) usually we give ‘consumables’ i.e. things that will be gone in a month or two so it doesn’t clog up their house for them, 3) it gives us a hobby for the rest of the year, 4) you’ve thought about someone and what they might like.

That’s how we do it anyway. :)

Outside of that, general Internet buying should be directed to http://www.kelkoo.com/, then google and finally amazon. :)

Etsy is pretty much that. It’s sort of like eBay but for things that individuals have made. You can buy pre-made stuff, patterns or sell them. Fairly cool - if you like that sort of thing. Which I do. :)

For unique gift ideas, not the typical stuff you see everywhere, go to www.NewInMall.com

1) There is only one link to Amazon on www.NewInMall.com and this link is to a specific pizza-making product that you probably wouldn’t find unless you were specifically looking for it. This product is not widely available, especially not in most mainstream stores.

2)I am curious as to what other stores you think are mainstream on NewInMall.com because I hadn’t heard of most of them.

3)The site now has a top 10 list of innovative products, a top 10 list of unique gifts/gift ideas, and a top 5 list of Cool Stuff that should help more with specific gift ideas. These lists were just added today.

Correction to my previous post. There are two links to Amazon, not one.
