I moved to miami from new jersey three weeks for college.
I am a junior.
I’ve been away from home before.
I wanted to come home this weekend to see all my friends for my bday next weekend. because next weekend I would not be able to go home since I have a friend visiting me here.
I want to see my family as well of course.
My friend is having a poetry show and a party she invited me to in NYC.
I decided I’d come home and hit all the birds with one stone - see my friends in one spot in one day/night, the next day I’d have lunch/dinner w/ my family.
My family did not seem happy about me coming to visit at all.
they kept questioning me why I wanted to come home, before reluctantly saying ‘ok’.
since then I hear my sister tell me my dad is skeptical about why i’m coming home and ‘why i didnt plan on going home for my bday next weekend instead?’
my parents already know i have ONE friend visiting me for my bday weekend.
and if i planned to come home this weekend to see everyone…..why so many questions and little excitement??
so i thought….fine……..i feel terrible that no one seems to want me home to visit for 1 weekend…….befre my bday….
i told them i wont come home..
now theyre upset, and saying i’ll regret and i misunderstood the situation…
what i understood..was that my family should be happy when their daughter decided to come home and visit after being gone for a bit…when her bday is the next weekend…
i thought they would just be thrilled.
i got the opposite response, yet somehow i should be remorseful if i dont come home?
what do you think?
my flight is tomorrow morning…
should i stay
or should
i go?
thanks for reading.
