I know at least two people here at my college and my new strategy, decided earlier tonight, is that I’m going to try and meet some new people through them. How many friends do you have in Chicago?

I never know what to talk about either. For me, most conversations start with somebody asking me a question that’s class related or on random occasions, me asking them something class related. I’ve had a few conversations snowball a little from that point, but nothing very substantial. It’s a start, though! I guess it just takes a little trial and error when trying to start a conversation with someone. I know it’s kind of a cliché, but you could always try compliment someone on something as simple as an article of clothing or anything else.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be about sports. I’ve had people guys and girls alike compliment me on different shirts I own. I had a person tell me they liked my Beck t-shirt and that started a small conversation about music. I’ve told a few people that I liked their Beatles shirts. Chances are, you will run into somebody wearing a shirt with a band you like on it. Go for something like that.
