Im doing background research for Othello for english, I need to find out what life was like when it was written and Shakespeares influences to write the book. Been using google but I could also do with anyone who knows anything else?

Any help please?

so are you talking in general influences of Shakespeare or just for Othello? and what level English class?

just for Othello, what inspired Shakespeare to write it. What life was like in 1600’s etc.

ok Ill try to help a little. So he was all about pushing the limits. To have a lead character be a black man back there was very odd to the people then. And even more so since he was with a white women in the play. its pushed the audiences buttons which was a common theme for most of the plays. it was one of his later plays so it was more accepted then some of his other pieces. It could also be a reflection of how life was when men in that day and age had to leave for war(which you could draw a parallel to in today’s world)
