we need some sort of petition to get help.com sorted out with these speed and connection issues.

any ideas?
This makes me think because a little while back I was in a very dark place myself and just talking to people on this website actually really helped me when otherwise I would have been repeatedly running into a wall (metaphorically). The thing is, it was ok back then but if it was this hard to negotiate in any length of time at all, I would have just given up and would have missed out.
I am thinking that there are a few people who are missing out now, and turning away from this site when they really need someone to talk to just because some of us DON’T SEEM TO BE GETTING ANYWHERE because of connection issues. Please, invite people to read this post if you can and discuss. someones gotta know how to get in touch with whoever runs this site and have a word

is it really so hopeless? and does nobody have any idea who maintains this site or how to get in contact with anyone?

ah, dani I have just seen your ‘help me with’ link.
Is there a story that I am missing here?
Have they sort of given up on this site or something? because it used to be a lot smoother

ah right. so CBS bought out the site and now they are not bothering to maintain it efficiently and are not responding to emails from disgruntled users? I am just guessing now but I am guessing that I am probably guessing right. ;)

Perhaps the best thing to do would be to restructure the site as a hub. Maybe this site should serve as a reference to places where people meet to discuss topics of personal interest instead of trying to be the primary source in and of itself, except in cases where the solution to a problem or a place where someone would know the solution is obscure. CBS wouldn’t even have to be involved necessarily. Regular users could voluntarily do this. For instance, recently someone posted a question asking for C++ help and I responded with a link to a forum specializing in programming languages, including C++.

I hear you, that is a good idea but do you think such a thing could be an efficient substitute and still cover all the nooks and crannies of diversity?
Personally I think that the charm of this site lies in its diversity and mish-mash.
Because anything goes, nothing gets left behind or undiscussed unless it is perhaps specific technology-related stuff, or something equally specialist. but in terms of getting advice and opinions and talking about stuff, it is really refreshing which is why it would be a shame to see it slide further.
Part of what this site has is that it can accept problems that have no specific specialised forum for over the net

Yeah- i’ve only just joined the site + it dosn’t seem to wanna let me sign in, so if thats part of your problem, you might try going back to the verification page tht Help sent to your email account and use the link there to sign in- that seems to work no problem?

unfortunately my friend, the main issue appears to be that this site has become a very tempermental domain in regards to connection and speed. Regardless of how strong a users internet connection is, this site seems to have a will of its own and there are times when pages refuse to load at all for me, even if left loading for a good 5 minutes or more. I am only just becoming aware of the recent issues and developments myself, but things are not looking good at the mo. Shame because this site can be of great benefit to some

I see- thts not good. Yh if you wanna draw up a petition i’d gladly sign it. I find it annoying that you cant receive your post stream live + stay on the same page - are you meant to be able to do that without going through the notices/public profile link? Also useless tht people have to bother other users with queries like this cz there are no admin pages to speak of (none that users can contact). Was it like this before CBS took over?
