I have to tell my father about my grades.

And, I happen to have 1 A (history) 2 B’s (science & Web Page Design) & 1 C (math). He thought I was going to get all A’s and I didn’t I feel very bad. Lying to him about it, and I am so afraid to see his reaction. I need some amazing way to get out of it. Brake an an arm? Suicide attempt? Obviously not those ideas, but something. When he gets mad, it’s terrible. I was thinking amazing daddy(: letter, head scratch, make his favorite dessert, and clean like crazy. But, really he would still be ‘upset.’ So ideas? I’m all ears. Well in this case eyes.

Well, you have to tell him eventually. I would go with an emotional letter saying how you feel you can never live up to his expectations and its really upsetting you. but btw, those grades arent bad at all! most parents would be proud, and im sure your dad would be too!

Let’s face it, he’s going to find out anyhow.

It would be far better if it were from you than one of your teachers.

The best thing to do is to pick a time when he is most likely to be in a reasonable frame of mind. After a meal, perhaps, rather than when he comes in straight after work.

Then, phrase your approach carefully.

“Dad, I’m really disappointed in myself. I thought I was going to get straight A’s because I’d worked so hard and it turns out I didn’t. I’m upset about it because I wanted to make you so proud of me. I want to talk to you about how I can boost them”

Now, by acknowledging your disappointment and turning to him for help, he is more likely to accept the situations. After all.. there’s no point in yelling too much at someone who knows the score already. Turn the focus on the future and making the best of that. :)

Sure, he may have a bit of a paddy for a short while. But my bet is he’ll be thinking more about how his daughter is so mature that she acknowledges her failings and mistakes and he must be a great dad that she comes to him for advice! :)

I agree with Mumstheword. Tell your dad that you have a problem and need his help. The problem is that you want his approval so much that you are willing to lie to him in order to have it. This is your opportunity to say what is really on your mind, which it seems to me is that you are afraid to upset him. Parents sometimes forget how their efforts to keep their kids on the right track are perceived. He probably does not know how afraid you are of his reaction when you do not achieve perfection.

If you tried your best and have nothing to be ashamed of then there shouldn’t be any reason for you to attempt to evade your father. He will find out soon enough even if you are not the person to inform him. But it would be better if it were you who told him. Furthermore, the grades you earn should faze you more than it should faze your father. Of course, he just wants you to succeed. But you are the only person who has the capability for that success and there is nobody else who change that.

well your gonna have to tell him. Bs and Cs are still passing grades, in ur pic u look like ur in high school, and its almost unheard of to have someone with no Ds or Fs. You’re actually doing great and passing so i think you should tell him. in the mean time, try to do some extra credit or something to raise the grades more.
