How can I fall out of love with someone while still being their best friend?

This guy used to be in love with me, but I wasn’t too into him. I just wanted to be best friends. Finally, due to his persistence, I ended up falling for him. We dated for a while, but it didn’t work out. Now he wants to be best friends and I’m the one in love. I don’t know how to get over him while being his best friend. While he’s just fine I’m constantly hurt. Any helpful advice??`

First off. Do NOT show him that you are hurt. It’s nothing personal to you, but no one ever wants to be around someone that is depressed or makes them feel uncomfortable. Sure they may hang around for awhile or even try to help, but eventually all their mind is saying is they want to get out of here!

So, be his friend. Be nice and friendly to him. But more important, enjoy your life. You don’t have to get over him, but you have to be ok with your own life. Spend some time on things just for you. Let him know that you are doing ok. Everyone wants to be around people that enjoy their life and can do things on their own.

Be happy. Do things for yourself. Hang out with him when it is convenient for YOU. Eventually he’ll come around….but then you will tire of him because he is the annoying one now!

He went through what you are going through right now… being in love with someone who didn’t return the favor. Maybe both of you can fall in love at the same time if you give it a chance.
