We are desperately in need of help.

My husband was a house painter for over 30 years and recently had to take disability due to extreme health problems. We have a 5 year old son. We have not had transportation for over a month now. We are running low on food, we are in jeopardy of getting our utilities turned off. As of right now until we can find a government assisted apartment (which may take up to 6 months) or somewhere that the rent is lower, our rent takes us over 3/4 of my husband’s check. This month we will not even have enough to pay bills and buy food. Our food stamps do not come in until the 8th of the month. I guess people wonder why I am not working. Well first of all no transportation. Second and most important is the fact that I would have to hire someone to come in and stay with my husband and little boy which around here costs a fortune and our insurance will not pay for that. Second, when I start working they start deducting money from my husband’s check. Plus they will drop our food stamps anywhere from $150 up to $300. So, as I have figured out, even if I work at make minimum wage (and right now jobs are scarce around here) but they cut my husband’s check and food stamps and I have to pay someone to help my husband and little boy while I am working, we would actually be worse off than we are now. I am praying and begging and hoping with all my heart that God has us an angel out there who will help us. Any kind of help would be appreciated more than words could say. Thank you so much for just reading this. May the Lord bless all those who help the ones in need. Thank you!

How about doing daycare at home? You could put a handwritten note up at the grocery store or nearby church? That way you could stay home with your child and earn some money at the same time and do others a favor. Especially while your child is in school.

Thank you brown11! Wonderful advice. The only problem is that is that my husband is sick enough some days that he cannot get out of bed. That leads to a problem of being able to handle children (and most of all keep them quiet) and help my husband at the same time. On the days he is feeling fairly well, it would not be so bad. But on the days he is not…well, there would be no way. I really really wish I could do that. I love children and babysitters are needed all the time. However, my husband’s illness limits me to what I can do at home. I am doing some writing and publishing online and making a little extra money. But it is no where near enough to keep us afloat. Again, thank you for taking the time to read my post and make a reply. May God bless you!!!!!

Sometimes social security will pay a family member to take care of a spouse with a disability.

Sometimes County social services will help with a one time payment with utilities or rent.

Do you have neighbors who might be willing to buy ingredients where you could make the food (and keep some as payment) for your time? They’d have a ready to eat meal and you’d have food you don’t have to pay for.

I’d gladly pay for someone just to help me clean the garage out; I’m sure there are others like me where you live. Get the word out you are looking for work. Target working folks who have too much to do in their free time. Or older folks. Sometimes these tasks are just boring and people appreciate having company while they are doing them. Chance are good your child would pick up a few free toys in the process. It could be done while your husband is napping.

Good luck to you and God bless you and your family. I will keep you in my prayers.

Thank you! I had never even thought about that with the food. What an awesome idea. I will definitely give that a try.

I have been trying to do a few things for neighbors, but around here (unfortunately) the neighbors keep to themselves and do everything themselves. I am not trying to make excuses. I have tried. I have tried making friends with them, but they just seem to want to be left more alone than anything. Kind of sad though.

As for Social Security, in our state my husband was even lucky to get SSI. They will even take money out of his check if I work. The last time I checked, for me to be able to get money for taking care of him I had to be licensed in that kind of care. That was last year. I may try again though. It is always worth a shot.

Thank you so much. I absolutely and 100% appreciate any and all advice anyone can offer us at this time. It is such a rough time and so depressing. My husband hasn’t had a good nights sleep in a month. Neither have I. We both lay awake and worry about things. I know worry gets you no where, but it is hard to not do. I think I have cried so much lately that I could flood the Atlantic. Anyway. Sorry about that. Sometimes it just helps to get things out. Thanks again. May God bless you also for your advice and just taking the time to reply.

I read your other post, and i coulnt post there.. “is God even listening to us”
It seems like you got alot of answer, including from some unbelievers. What im gonna tell you is what the bible says, or what God has to say. Im not going to write about my own understanding. Thus saith the Lord ” I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor their seed begging bread.” Meaning God takes care of his people, the Saints. Have you repented of your sins and was baptize in the name of Jesus? ” Who then can be saved? With men it is impossible, but not with God: For with God all things are possible” mark 10:26,27.
Friend, you have not know God. you have not sought out his council. HE doesnt hear you because he doesnt know you.
Your God is what you think about the most, do you comprehend the Glory of God? that everyday his mercies are new, and that if you seek him early you shall find him.
Read and pray Psalms 51
God’s word cuts but it heals.

elgn2…Thank you for these words. I was baptiized at the age of 17 and have believed in and loved my Lord and Savior ever since. Right now though, I am just having a rough time because it is just…well, it seems unfair. But I know that life is not fair, we are NOT supposed to NEVER go through trials and tribulations. However, just the fact that I am just about worn to a frazzle from worry and so fatigued from trying to find something to make money, that my faith is as wavering as a corn stalk in a tornado.
Again, thank you for taking the time to post this. It is people like you who make a difference with your words!!!!!

Since you got baptize you have committed sin. Ask God for forgiveness, the reason why God cant hear your prayer is because of your sins. So your prayers are hitting the ceiling.. Pray and Fast. read his word.
God bless :)
