I really need to get this prescription for an inhaler filled, but my mom won’t let me.

OK so for the past like 6 months, I’ve been getting really out of breath when I run. For the past month or so, I get really dizzy when I stand up. Last month, I was diagnosed (if that’s the right word) with Bronchospasms, which means asthma when I exercise. The reason I want the inhaler is cuz I play with the little kids at church ALOT. Like, I play tag with them after church every single week. I don’t want to have to say No to them. But if I run to much, I start coughing and I fall over. The reason my mom doesn’t want it is cuz she is a total alternative health freak. Like, she thinks all MDs are out to get you for your money. So what do you think I should do? I know where the prescription is - on a bulletin board that nobody ever looks at - so I could take it down and get it filled without her knowing, if that’s possible and legal. So please help!

Yes you can get it filled. Be aware there will probably be a copay.

You could also call your doctor and ask for a free sample. Tell your doctor what is going on and she/he can talk to your mom. Asthma is NOT something to withhold medication from…this is something you are right about and need to push for…

Your mom needs to be properly educated.

If your dad is around or another family member enlist their aid. The school nurse would also help you.
