It could be a lot of things…it could be low on water, low on oil, a hole in the radiator, a blown headgasket, hole in the radiator hose…It could be so many things that it would be hard to narrow it down without actually seeing the vehicle.

You can usually tell if you have a blown headgasket by checking to see if it has water coming out of the exhaust (not just condensation…actually running out). Of course, if you have a hole in the radiator it will be leaking on the ground when parked. Of course, simply check the oil and water levels.
