How do i not let things people think and do bother me?

The guys at work always think things are my fault when they arn’t. I’m the one that gets blamed no matter what. . . I always leave angry and sad. I do things to make me feel better like hanging out with friends after work, going clubbing etc. but then i dred going back to work.

You’ve isolated yourself at work.

You need to build your social network at work by getting to know your co-workers as people and letting them get to know you as a person. As long as you remain isolated, you will be the natural scapegoat because you’ve given them no reason to care about you as a person.

Thats a good point, and i can see why that would cause them to act this way. I just dont want to get to know them. Four guys work in my small office with me, (and i need the job) One jokes about everything. Cant stand to fake smile for too long. Another one has 3 girlfriends, brags about getting drunk and not giving a **** about anyone or anything. One cheats on his wife and complains about her all the time… and the other one is okay i guess but he is so boring. i have talked to him the most because he is the only reasonable person… but he hardly shows up to work… I do feel very isolated. your definatly right, but Mingling didnt pan out much for me in my 9 months working here… what should i do?

put pictures of your favorite people on your desk. They might ask who the people are and help to get a conversation flowing.

Here are your choices:

1. Dig for gold. Every person deserves respect for something they do or have done. People often talk crap at work because they are afraid to be serious about anything. Build your social networks, develop your skills to find the good in anyone, and they will FEEL your respect and respect you back. *** Don’t mistake it: they can tell you don’t respect them and that’s why they dump on you.

2. Continue what you’re doing. Feel morally superior (and I don’t mean this judgmentally) but suffer the consequences.

3. Quit and get another job… where the same thing will probably happen.

I have crappy people skills but when I take my own advice… amazing things happen.

I’m going through something similar at the minute… I’m sorry I know its tough. I’ve done things like put pictures on my desk that cheers me up. I try to think of positive things that actually work. Saying to yourself “Things will get better” doesn’t exactly help. You need things that really will, such as… “I’m so happy I don’t cheat on people” or just think of things personal to you that work.

At the minute i’m trying a “3 second rule” technique out. When something makes me feel crap I accept it for 3 seconds and then immediately think of something good or positive.

Thange things you do in the day, try and go out the office on lunch breaks - even just for some fresh air for 5 mins or something. Look forward to the little things… plan what your having for lunch… its boring but you need to start enjoying the little things as much as you can because unfortunately… about 90% of jobs are very very boring!

Sorry if thats mumbly crap - I hope I could help.
