I am getting all worked up. I should write a separate help.com post daring someone to explain why NOT to legalize marijuana.

Another great thing to do for a paper would be to look up WHY it got banned in the first place. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE it was bad. It was based on faulty or non-existent science. Some said a man had killed someone when on marijuana, but that was ONCE, with no proof, and people kill thousands on alcohol. Why is that legal???

Also, if you look at the actual EFFECTS of marijuana, it doesn’t really change your JUDGEMENT like alcohol. It changes your PERCEPTIONS, but you don’t do bad things you wouldn’t do otherwise. Generally speaking -> opinion but with good detective work you might find research backing this up. I KNOW you could find research indicating violence is nearly nonexistent on marijuana.

Marijuana helps with a lot of things including stress and anxiety, it also helps cancer patients to help some of the symptoms when going through kemo. You could look that up.

It is true that Marijuana doesn’t effect as much people as tobacco or alcohol, but unfortunitly I am one of the people it got effected by, I ended up getting asthma from smoking pot.

Personal Opinion:
I believe it should be legalized. It is a high profit and high risk industry. It is high profit because it is high risk. When ever a dealer of items is a risk for selling said items prices of items rise to compensate. From what I can see the major dealers of marijuana are also major dealers of other more nefarious narcotics. Therefore, selling marijuana is a high profit portion of the overall drug industry that if legalized would be eliminated to an extent. While not totally done away with of course it would take a large bite out of the profit margin of that particular portion of the industry.

While in my mind it is completely idiotic to smoke and wrong to do so, people should not be imprisoned or fined for acting stupid. If we did that the whole of the American population would be broke and in prison. Do we imprison those who drink or those who smoke? Alcohol appears to have a more detramental and dangerous effect than DHP. When smoking marijuana does one seek to go drive or do reckless things? On the contrary, it appears to more deeply inhibit activity than alcohol. I was told that, “It makes you feel like you can do less than you actually can.”

Is it that much of a stretch that legislators keep it illegal so that they may keep it as a revenue stream as well? So if that is to be accepted let us see who wins and looses when marijuana is illegal. Would it perhaps be the very people who are the thorn in the side of society that take the most benefit?

And let us see what would happen if it were legalized?
The answer I will leave to you guys.

I am too lazy to look up any links or proof. Go figure.

The biggest reason why marijuana should be legal to produce and sell to adults is because the prohibition doesn’t stop people from using it.

Instead of preventing people from using marijuana (and therefore theoretically making us all safer) it instead diverts $8 - 10 BILLION a year to the Mexican drug cartels. According to the ONDCP *two-thirds* of the cartels incomes are derived solely from selling marijuana in the U.S.!

The cartels murdered more than 6,000 people last year in order to protect their drug incomes, this year they’ll kill at least 7,000. Many of their victims are children, police officers and politicians.

The ONLY way to end the cartel murders is by undercutting the cartel prices with legal marijuana, thus stripping the cartels of their customers and eliminating their marijuana incomes. No business can survive losing two-thirds of its income! This would decimate the cartels and end the brutal murders they’re committing every single day.

As an added advantage, undercutting the drug dealer and cartel prices with legal marijuana will make all marijuana sales carded like alcohol and tobacco. That will make marijuana significantly harder for minors to access than what it is today.

One could say the same for misspelling. Hint: if you are going to oppose something don’t make it look like you are on it.
