I am not exactly Avoidant but I am very shy. I believe my dad is the same, and my brother has the Disorder on a much higher level.

He tends to lose himself in his work and his hobbies.

Joining Cross Country has been good for him because it is primarily an individual hobby, but at the same time, fellow team mates see how skilled he is and befriend him slowly because they look up to him and/or just see him as a cool guy.

If you have Avoidant Personality Disorder, get involved in a team activity that revolves mostly around how much you accomplish. Cross Country is the best example I can think of, but surely, you can think of something that strongly correlates with your best interests.

Good luck!
