But the Hindu gods and goddesses are brought to form from the formless in the same way men, and dogs are. In that sense they are not as the monotheistic God, being supreme beings and the creator of everything, and this is why many theologists consider Hinduism a form of atheism. In theism God is the supreme being the Almighty creator of everything. Atheism is a belief against such ideas.

Are you from India? I had a buddy that was Indian and was dating a girl from my hometown and I used to give him rides whenever I visited my parents. It seems Americans and the people of India have a lot in common and whenever I meet someone from there they have learned the English language unlike all of the Hispanics who are trying to force their language and traditions on us. Seems to be an extremely intelligent race and very kind and non-violent.

I just wanted to add. I’m sorry if my reply sound condescending; it was not really my intent. I happen to be able to see the beauty in many Hindu beliefs. India has had a very strong spiritual background for eons, one they should be proud of. There is a great deal Hinduism has give the West, and we should be (as I am) grateful.

I really pity people who believe in intangible gods. It must be awfully depressing and weakening to know that your god is inconsequential.

Of course, people who believe in animals, objects, and nature as gods are little better, but at least those things are tangible and make a difference.

There is only one true religion, and that’s fictionism - the belief in fiction. Every theist belongs to this religion, all though they think their particular brand of fiction is true and only true.

The people I know from India are hard working, intelligent, clean, and family oriented. That’s all I am looking at when I talk to them. Diwali is coming up so all those who are Hindu on this site, Happy Diwali for you on the 17th of October!

I am pretty sure the people who believe in them won’t wake up thinking their god is inconsequential because they believe in them, in fact generally they will pity you for not having the god in the life. Also it is belief- it doesn’t really matter that it isn’t tangible because they believe. There must be something in it, when people began exploring and found tribes and cultures from all over the world- nearly all had their own belief system in place, whether it is out of human need or out of everybody recognising a higher power in their own way- it exists and existed. So maybe they are much happier waking up every morning and realising the good they could do with their life and that there is a purpose to it, whether they know what it is or not does not matter- becasue they believe.
