I hope that you do not harm yourself at all. Its not a good thing to do. If you would like someone to vent to i will listen. I used to cut myself when i was younger and regret it very much now.

You cut yourself to distract yourself from anxiety. THere are plenty of easier ways to distract yourself from anxiety. Running is one of them. Or a martial arts class. Working on small goals and achieving them will develop your confidence and focus you on what your strengths are.

I’m trying to quit using SI as my crutch, but I understnad how hard it is to just stop like that. I’ve read about people using elastic bands to help (snap in on your arms instead of cutting.) I tried it, but I realised that I was simply relying on that instead. Plus, it left horrible red weals because I got a little too overzealous. However, it doesn’t leave scars.

Why don’t you address the reason you harm yourself and live a contented life instead of trying to find a way of doing it that you can hide? Honestly, you are just like a million other people with anxiety. You can have a much better life if you want it.

Why would you wanna cut yourself without leaving a mark? Isn’t watching the blood and seeing the skin heal the point of cutting?

But cutting for a release? Come on. If you go for a run not only do you get a release, but you get fit and feel better and look better and attract positive attention. When you cut… it’s like drinking alcohol or taking drugs to feel better. It’s a crutch. It doesn’t help you find happiness. It just holds you back.

Yeah. And people have their own releases. This just happens to be it for some people. Rightly or wrongly. For many its a form of escapism; that physical pain is easier to deal with and understand than emotional pain which is hard to cope with when you’re young and have no life experience.

Don’t you have better things to do with your time? Why not do something more productive? While you don’t want the scars to be visible, why would you want to do it? Most people who self harm want to call attention to themselves or issues that they feel are being ignored in their lives. What’s really going on in your life?

Is your school work suffering?

Are you being bullied?

Are you being abused at home?

Don’t you feel loved by your parents?

You didn’t get the latest toy in the market?

Your parents don’t approve of your friend, boyfriend, or girlfriend?

Are you gay and are afraid to come out of the closet?

What’s going on?
