Do you think it’s possible to be sucessful without qualifications?

I have tried and tried and tried so many different courses and none of them have worked out for me.
I feel more as though I need to work and earn my successes in life. Do you think this is possible? Or is success purely driven by qualifications these days?

no, its absolutely possible to be successful without qualifications. most often, employers will take someone with experience and no quals, over someone with quals up the wazoo and no experience.

not at all. you get it by working your way in, from the ground up.

qualifications are good stepping stones toward success, at least in the corporate world. for a certain age bracket (like entry level, which i assume you are in), global companies do require qualifications. some of them even tough ones. especially now with the economy, the competition is even tighter. there are companies who still hire entry level with minimum qualifications, but definitely not at the caliber of those global companies. unless of course, you have very special skills.

good news is, the corporate track is just one of many ways you can be successful. since i’m assuming you mean financial success, the best way for you may be to put up your own business - be an entrepreneur. :)

best of luck!

read the book Outliers by Malcom Gladwell. Pretty much chronicles successful people that it wasn’t hard work or any special education, it was coincidences in life that attributed to the opportunities in their lives in which they became successful.

I am 22, I’m currently on a college course but it isn’t what I wanted and I don’t want to waste 2 years working on this when it isn’t going to get me where I want to be.

I want to be a writer and my plan was to start out free lance, build up a portfolio and then try my luck with bigger publishers/projects/media companies.

success is all in how ambitious you are. You want to build up a portfolio and have can get the right connections go for it. It takes hard work to an extent after that it’s coincidences, opportunity, and connections.
