I don’t do Jesus and i don’t need a religion to do love

of course God is love, i agree that God is not waiting to strike us down, He is loving and forgiving, sometimes i dislike the way people fear God when what we should do is love Him.

Religion is not about love and acceptance. If it were, then religions would not choose sides, judge people, say they are right and others are wrong, fight each other, etc.

If you want to love people, go and do it. You don’t need any mysticism to back it up. Just observe this simple rule:

Act in a way that causes people to act in a way that you want.

Seeing God? The kingdom of God is in our minds, it is through His words that we see Him. Thy Kingdom come. That means I pray for my mind to know you. Any Christian worth his salt knows this.
Act in a way that causes people to act in a way you want (previous comment from lunuxya) is called manipulation. Do what you believe to be right and good regardless of the consequences to you is more like a spiritual idea :)

There’s no such thing as right and wrong. There are only actions and consequences.

I enjoy nothing more than “manipulating” others into happiness and understanding, particularly my family, friends and girlfriend. What’s more, when they model my behaviour and manipulate me into happiness and understanding, I am likewise thrilled.

The other option is of course to be sanctimonious and preach right and wrong and punish people who don’t follow your chosen rules. But that naturally leads to defensiveness, anger and hatred.

Its awesome you have the whole God thing to fill a hole in your life. But I think love comes from your heart not from your beliefs in religion.

God’s love defines who he is. It is his very character, and because He is spirit, we know that love is an emotion and from that emotion is often times called into action.

The definition of GOd’s love is to be an example for all believer’s and even Jesus says that Satan is capable of love- worldly love and God’s love are two different things, and we mix up the two,misinterpret love to make it fit into our lives personally not make our lives fit into or around God’s perfected love.

I have honestly never heard that God is like a rolling thunder, but I know scripture says His voice is, and there are many discriptions from nature that help us understand who God is, in character and as a creator.

I applaud your stance,but all we truly need is Jesus Christ, our love is perfected in Him…

yes, as i understand it, he destroys cities, kills millions of innocent, unsuspecting people, and commands fathers to sacrifice their sons in order to get the satisfaction of knowing people will do anything in fear of him.
