I am curious to know what yall think.
Here is my question: Should women preach etc. In church? I have read my Bible and could look at this both ways. what do you think?

personally, i would say that no one should preach, at least no one human
but if this is about equality between sexes, hey? why not?
there are women ministers, right? is it different from the one you’re pertaining to?:)
i was brough up christian and from what i heard, the woman would have to be married; and even then the guy would most likely be the preacher, since he’s the ‘head of household’. personally though, i don’t really have an opinion. i would say why not.
of course, i believe that women can do anything men can do, wtf? it’s not like they’re less than human or anything.
what the….how friggin sexist is that?
good god, the arrogance of christians continually amazes me
so sayeth the lord No More Tears
dont point thy rod at me, you pervvvvv
I think that women can preach. I had an experience once where I went to sleep with the t.v. on espn and I woke up and the channel had been changed to a lady minister. The dream I was having was related to what she was teaching. I woke up feeling refreshed and aware of what I had been doing wrong so I was able to change the sin I was engaging in. GOD worked through her and if he puts you in that position will be able to work through you. You will know, just pray about it. :o)
I asked a very serious question as far as Im concerned. To those of you who gave serious replies: Thank you

You’re welcome. I hope that you are put in that position if thats what you want.
If you are a literalist in following the Bible, the Apostle Paul wrote that women should not only not teach or have authority over a man, but shouldn’t even speak in church. He also instructed that slaves who became Christians were to serve their masters obediently rather than cause waves for the church.
If you follow the Bible literally, you will have to pick up every hitch-hiker and carry them even farther than they ask. You’ll have to lend money to everyone who asks of you, and not expect any return. If someone hits you, you’ll not strike back. Those were all from Jesus’ “sermon on the mount”. How are you going to fight wars for oil companies and still turn the other cheek? You’ll also need to remain single and chaste, since Paul recommended that as the best lifestyle. When you and another believer prays for something in Jesus’ name, it should absolutely come true. The men should have short hair and the women long hair and wear head coverings too.
Going back to the Old Testament, you have a lot of burnt offerings to catch up on because apparently God is fond of Bar-be-que. Also, don’t trim your sideburns and make sure you don’t boil a lamb in its mother’s milk.
I don’t mean to sound sarcastic, I’m serious. After the second invite to this post, I figured you are interested in a detailed response. If you take the Bible literally, then take it all literally. Don’t rationalize that some commands were symbolic or pertained only to the ancient culture, because you don’t accept that current cultural trends (gay clergy for example) should affect doctrine. My point is that the Bible should NOT be taken literally.
The Bible was written by men. Parts of it are incredible and may be “inspired”. But parts were also written with political or personal prejudice, and certainly with ignorance of science. What the Isrealites of the OT did to seven nations when they entered the “promised land” if it happened today would be called genocide. And yet, an unchangeable God advocated limitless servanthood and non-violence in the teachings of Jesus. That alone should clue you in that the Bible is very flawed.
If there is something in the Bible that can cause you to live your life with more peace and love for your fellow human beings, great. Study and live those parts. But arbitrary ancient rules? We get enough of those from politicians without adding the arcane strictures of the Bible to our obligations. If the question of women preachers is bugging you that much, perhaps you need to find a different faith community.
By the way, I’d like to borrow some money. Not a million dollars, just all the money you have. I’ll give it back.. promise!
I wrote my post also because I had prayed to GOD about this many of times. I had just read in the Bible women should not speak in church. So I prayed about this because I was thinking about going to school for theology and I did not want to waste money on something I could not use. I was woken up to that lady preaching and so I figured GOD killed 2 birds with one stone. He had answered two of my prayers with one experience. I listen to that ladys’ sermons often and the points she make seem like they were inspired by GOD. So I just ask that you pray about it and see what you find. If you figure out if you want to do this tell me about you decision. I would love to hear from you.
