no sound on computer help!

Can you walk me through how to get my sound working. my speakers are connected. Yesterday my power went out and now I can not get the sound to work. I have connected new speakers and it still is not working. Any suggestions? It is urgent because I have to use speakers during a sound recording I will be doing in an hour.

There’s no telling what that power loss might have done.
It could be that the point where you connect the speakers died, or perhaps even a part of your motherboard.

I doing a recording through the phone line that comes in through a mixing board. In able to hear the caller I need speakers, but I figured out a way with headphones connected to the mixing board to make it work.

I still can’t figure out the speakers but now I will wait until my husband gets home tonight to figure them out.

Being able to do the recording is what was important.

Thanks so much for responding and giving your input.

How would I check the sound card. When I go to the computer settings it shows that the sound is working.

I better just wait for my husband. Because I do not even know what os stands for. I am not very good at this trouble shooting stuff. It makes me nervous I will mess everything up.

Thanks again socialxperiment for offering to help.
