anger help: I am an extremely angry, cynical and paranoid person. - Help.com

This post left anonymously

I am an extremely angry, cynical and paranoid person.

I don’t know where to turn for help. I have no faith in humanity, it’s institutions, ideologies or religions. I see the world as being ruled by the cruel and selfish. I don’t know how long I can live like this. I am crippled by the weight of these negative emotions. I have no patience for the platitudes spewed by hypocrites. I need to find inner peace, not religion.

I can’t help you with inner peace, sorry. It’s something you’re going to have to figure out yourself.
Just remember that there are beautiful things in life too. Connect back to it. Listen to music.
Do you have any good friends? Not everyone is cruel and selfish. We have the capacity for much, much more.

Be the change you want to see in the world.

If you feel that the world is cold and uncaring, volunteer at a local charity. I know that is more easily said that done, but it really can help. If you don’t have a lot of time, just give a modest donation to a worthy cause. Do acts of random kindness like paying for the bridge toll of the car behind you, even though you have no idea who that is. If you don’t have time or money, just smile and say “hello” to a homeless person you walk by…this gift may mean more than any money, because you’ve acknowledged they are a human being and not some faceless animal.

We cannot change everything at once, it takes lots of good people with good hearts to make lots of small changes. The fact that the world being ruled by the “cruel and selfish” bothers you means you are a good person.

There are actually more of us than you may think. ;-)

You deserve to share who you are with those in need…volunteer somewhere, it will help you see the good in your fellow man and feel good about yourself doing something to change the evil in the world. If enough of us get involved, the world WILL change.

Einstein once said that ‘The most important decision we make is whether we believe we live in a friendly or hostile universe.’ They both exist, which do you choose to recognize?

Our perception shapes our reality. If you consistently choose to see the beauty in the world, more will find its way to you and your life will be a charmed one.

If you choose to consistently recognize the anger in this world, more will will find you and your life will be filled with conflict and turmoil.

The choice is yours. I have, through my own experience, observed the above to be true. It works whether your paying attention to it or not. So my advice is to live on purpose, not reaction.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

Best of success brother.
