editing help: could someone help me with when to capitalize heaven? - Help.com

could someone help me with when to capitalize heaven?

I have read things telling me differently on google, most saying to capitalize it as a place, others just to leave it lower case as a common noun. I have capitalized most, but then what about expressions/exclamations? Do I just leave these as lower case?
eg. ‘oh the heavens!’ or ‘by heaven!’

then what about
’see the power of the heaven’ ?

Heaven is a proper noun. It should always be capitalized.

Maybe it depends on wether or not you are religious. I wouldn’t because I believe it an ideal or a state of mind. If you believe people can go to heaven then capitalize it

What about ‘God’ or ‘Allah’?

Well I don’t believe in them…I personally wouldn’t capitalize them unless talking to someone religious who I didn’t want to offend.

ok so if I capitalize, I should always do so- no exceptions. I just get confused because ‘by heaven I am happy’ is not referring to heaven the place just a saying. But I should still capitalize it? Ok.

I would always capitalize God or Allah because tvey are names aswell anyway

ok but if it says ‘oh the heavens!’ as an exclamation it is pluralising so therefore should not be capitalized?
