Upset/sad = think about something nice and funny that I have passed from…
Hurt = you’ll be what you choose to be. You’ll “hurt” as long as you feel you need to…
Angry = Calm Down as soon as possible is the best for you and for everyone…
Stressed = RELAX
Panicky = Calm Down…

All of these things depends on what caused that feeling, is it something in your control or not, meaning, is there anything you can do to fix the situation that made you feel this way.
But anyhow, I will go on the concept that the feelings are caused by something that is out of your control and what I do when I feel that way :)

1. upset/sad?
I go on websites that make me laugh, funny.com is one.
May go for a walk or watch t.v

2. hurt?
I figure this to me in the emotional sense and not actually physically hurt.
I busy my self with tasks and people to take my mind off feeling hurt, I usually decide to clean the house during this time while listening to loud music.

3. angry?
I good cry on my own and then bashing inanimate objects works for me but I wouldn’t recommend that for everyone as it usually means replacing the object you broke.

4. frustrated?
Hmm Don’t know about this one, I would say it is close to anger and annoyance and maybe bashing something would help with this one to?

5. stressed?
Hot bath, candles, relaxing music, a film/book, chocolate and an early night

6. panicky?
Something to calm me down, I may call a friend or my mum for idle conversation or take a cold shower and then have something scrummy to eat.

2. I get grr and work out and well lift little weights and think of the hurt i could inflict and why i shouldnt inflict it upon the person who did hurt me. Write poems of the gruesome details which i’m soo good at describing

3. I Clean my entire house from dishes to wall.lol to the windows to the wall and everything.

4. and 5. i clean and bake and do all the whole roomservice at my house.a nd listen to very loud music and eat all the baked goods i made lol

6. well i go to a calm and serene place i know i hear nothing but the wind and try to breath and calmly sit down and try to settle down.

oOOOOOOOR

As you know, I’m not so great at controlling my emotions, but I’ll give it a whirl.

1. upset/sad?
I make a list of all the wonderful things in my life, and all I have to be thankful for.
If that doesn’t work- I go out and find someone to help. Whether it be a little old lady, a small child, or someone my own age- helping someone out always makes me feel better.

2. hurt?
I’m an overanalyzer, so when i get hurt I think of all the different ways I’m hurt, how I came to be that way, and what I can do to fix it. Usually the time it takes me to come up with all of that washes away the most intense hurt feelings so I can move on to fixing it.

3. angry?
I’m very aggresive, so I went out and bought myself a boxing bag for those times when I lose my temper. The gym usually always has one, too. If that doesn’t work, I beat the crap out of my pillows/bed. Other times, I’ll lock myself up somewhere and scream until I lose my voice. Then I have something else to be mad about… (haha)

4. frustrated?
9 times out of 10, I’ll just walk away. If I let myself get too frustrated, I tend to blow, so I just get out of the situation and use #3 to calm down.

5. stressed?
Music usually helps me, I have all my moods sorted into playlists. Talking things out has never been my strong suite, so I tend to write it all down on paper, then go back and eliminate all the things that I don’t feel are worth stressing over anymore- then I deal with the big things that are left.

6. panicky?
Once again, I turn on the music to soothe until I’m calm enough to handle the situation. If no music is avaible, then I resort to walking/running to clear me head a bit. If THAT doesn’t work, I find someone else to calm me down, then apologize profusely. (haha)

7. worried?
I try to keep telling myself that “NOTHING IS PERMANENT” and that this too shall pass. It’s a little cliched, but it usually works. Just remember that whatever is going on can’t last forever- hang in there until it’s gone.

Hope I helped in some way. You’re working so hard at this, you’ll be soooo calm in a few years! I believe it! Keep at it!

1. Take time off to myself, or focus in my work (studies) if I can’t.
2. Depends, sometimes I choose to tell the person who hurt me but I guess that could be solved the same way as anger.
3. Shout, swear, punch things, exhaust myself from over-use of adrenaline. I get angry seldom though.
4. Not sure.
5. Chill. In my case, I do that by watching an anime or reading a book.
6. Restrain myself from acting rashly, by trying to make sense out of the instincts.
7. Make sure that whatever I’m worried about is okay, or distract myself from thinking about it if I can’t.

1. upset/sad?
I talk to people who won’t make me upset and cheer me up. I think of positives about the situation or in general. Try and do stuff to take my mind off it.
2. hurt?
I try to think of the reasons why i feel hurt and how i can fix it. Maybe talk to the person whos hurting me if i believe that’ll fix the situation.
3. angry?
I go some where private and swear and hit things and get it all out. Then i try to turn things around and calm myself by focusing on other things.
4. frustrated?
Take a long run or walk to think and calm myself, usually after i do this i think more rationally. Or take a long back or read a book for a while. Basically do things to calm my mind.
5. stressed?
Pretty much the same as frustrated for me, basically do tings to take my mind off it then go back to the problem and try and fix it.
6. panicky?
Do things to stay calm and not act rationally. Listen to music, walk or run. DO whatever to clear my head.
7. worried?
Try to make my self believe everything will be alright and if it isn’t your life will move past it eventually. But like everything i just try to keep my mind off it. Music, Exercise, talking to people who’d calm me down.

Goodluck with your booklet Natalie :]

Thanks everyone for the replies. Another question I have is, how do you handle those feelings when you get them? Like I understand how you distract yourself but how do you DEAL with those feelings? Thanks!

I think someone already mentioned this in one of your other posts, but I use a set of affirmations that pertain to me. Like:
This too shall pass.
I’m better than this.
There are MUCH better aspects of my life. They are: My family, friends, animals, etc.
I rock!
This can’t go on forever.

Things like that running through my head give me enough sense to work out whatever problem I’m facing. Keeping a good attitude about everything and never letting those negative thoughts get in goes a long way. You’re an amazingly special person, and there shouldn’t be ANYTHING that EVER gets in your way- because your you. You know your strong and weak areas, and you know how you feel about them. Go from there and keep building up the self-confidence as you go along. No problem, big or small, is too much for you to handle. You just have to keep good thoughts and sense about you! Hopefully this helps some. =D

I pray and listen to worship music for all those things.

It is also sometimes helpful to clarify the root problem (why am I feeling this way?)and come up with a plan to address it.

1. upset/sad - lay in bed and stare at the ceiling
2. hurt - break contact
3. angry - tell myself and people that i am angry about something, or at them, then move on.
4. frustrated - call a good friend and moan in hope to be motivated
5. stressed - take control of things, or just tell people to leave me alone for a while and let me concentrate.
6. panicky - talking to someone with feet on the ground to put me in proportions, or put the situation in a practical point of view.
7. worried - if there is nothing i can do, i just walk around in circles in the back yard.

Great post, was thinking about this myself. I’ll be along next to read others, but these are mine as of now.

1. upset/sad - cry in the shower, go for a walk, play a AOEII for hours.
2. hurt - stair into space and get confused.
3. angry - breath and try to de-tense my shoulders.
4. frustrated - sing loudly and do a silly dance.
5. stressed - clench my teeth, sleep, watch movies
6. panicky - shake, do something sporty
7. worried - push it from my mind using some sort of avoidance activity like reading or cooking.

Wow, I suck at these. I’m coming back to this post in a few days/weeks/months and seeing if I can give a better answer.

I’d like to say… Phone a friend, plan how to make it not happen again, yoga, walk up the hill, put it into perspective, gather resources, priortise.

looking up the other lists to find some good ones.

thank you for inviting me…well tough questions

There is so much going on in life, personally I get ashamed, because there are so many people going through real world problems, I don’t mean that my emotions do not hurt or bother me, but I realized a long time ago that I should content and thankful for what I have, and accept myself as I am, others as they are and life as it is, this makes things easier for me, at least I don’t feel helpless anymore.

:O)

Generally, I try to look for someone to talk to or find something that might calm me down, animals are the sweetest, so I visit the zoo or the pet shop :O) head to the ocean or the mountains, try to volunteer for the environment, anti-poverty projects, work with children or the elderly whatever comes first :O)

I think there is no way the people do not react to all situation in the same way, losing someone or losing your most precious things (perhaps something that reminds you of a loved one or a special moment) does not compare but still it gives you almost the same emotions. Personally I always feel more than one emotion at a time, so it is hard to be very precise.

1. upset/sad?
If it is something terrible I might just be sad about it and continue what ever it is that I had to do and it will remain in my mind until I get over it. Ignore if nothing can be done or find the best solution.

2. hurt?
This is tricky, it depends, from trying to find something to distract me to looking for someone to talk to :O)

3. angry?
I lose my temper! I explode and then beg everyone to forgive me :O i am trying to work on my temper. (received compliments last week for improvement! so there is hope for me!)
I remember the feeling and remind myself when ever I feel that feeling that I remain calm and wait until the feeling goes away enough for me to talk in a calm way (even if it takes days)

4. frustrated?
I pace up and down the room and try to take a long walk or play a game online or something :OP

5. stressed?
I love to treat myself when ever I can, because I really think that stress is your emotions turning into physical pain, so sport is my remedy and spending time with friends or try a new or alternative routine, even breathing exercises and loosening your shoulders and neck for 10 minutes it makes a difference.

6. panicky?
Paper bag Alert!!! I hyper ventilate!! I try to calm down not to get into that state or when I lose the battle I try to calm myself to get my breath back :O(
I have already been there and I really felt I was mortally in anger.

7. worried?
I keep repeating myself over and over, trying to find a solution, it never leaves my mind, so I try and find a solution, it depends on the subject, but distraction helps but it is not a solution of course.

:O)

What do you do when you’re feeling…

…?

1. upset/sad? I watch Joel Osteen. He gives me hope and new direction in life and teaches me way to attack my problems and my sadness and the reasons why I’m upset.

2. hurt? If it’s somebody who hurt me, I say that they don’t know any better.

3. angry? I go to the gym and punch a heavy bag and go jogging for about 6 miles or more until I feel the anger subside.

4. frustrated? I write down why I feel frustrated and read it outloud to myself and most of the time come to the conclussion that whatever I’m frustrated about, it’s just not worth it or will soon pass.

5. stressed? Again, I hit the gym and/or go to the beach and put on my headphones and listen to Joel Osteen again.

6. panicky? If and when the panic becomes too much, I scare away that panic by just praying and wishing for better days.

7. worried? If there’s anything I can do about what’s worrying me, I do it. If there’s absolutely nothing I can do about what’s worrying me, I try to drop it. I know it’s easier said than done but I still try.
