college help: I have always been a perfectionist when it comes to my work but within the past two years my standards have gotten ridiculous. - Help.com

I have always been a perfectionist when it comes to my work but within the past two years my standards have gotten ridiculous.

I’ll work day and night on projects for college but when the deadline gets near, I have a complete nervous breakdown and stop working because of the stress it causes. So I end up not handing in my work because the stress of finishing is too much or if I do complete the project, I always feel its not of a high enough standard and would rather fail than hand in something thats not up to my standard. I’ve been to see the counseller in my college but it didn’t help with the anxiety and now I have a project to hand in in two days but I haven’t been to the class because I was embarrassed to show the lecturer the mediocre work I had done and the project grade is based 70 percent on attendance. What should I do???

Go to class. Hand it in.

It’s not true that it’s better to fail than hand in work that is less than perfect.

fyi all work is less than perfect. The closer you come to perfection, the finer the divisions until they become infinitely fine and perfection is never reached.

The longer you wait the worse it gets. Hand it in and talk to the professor. They are usually really nice people.

O_o did you just read your own logic there?
you would rather have a fail, a did not complete, a big giant fat F on your record, than possibly even TRY for any type of grade?
