OK this is a weird question a bit.

Lately, hot chocolate (maybe chocolate in general not sure yet) is really bothering my stomach. Like I make it and I love hot chocolate so it’s yummy but by the time I get 3/4 of the way through it I feel sick. Any ideas what’s up?

BTW I drink the SAME hot chocolate every time and it’s NEVER bothered me before EVER

I’m going to stop completely. It makes me feel sick for hours! But it just started. It’s never happened before.

Hot chocolate has a couple of things in it that might upset a stomach. As Meow mentioned it sometimes has milk. A lactose intolerance can cause stomach upset. Also, it has caffeine. If you’ve overdosed on caffeine it too could cause stomach upset, especially if you’ve developed some form of ulcer.

I have a similar problem. I adore chocolate and can’t resist it, but it now triggers severe heartburn.

Here’s what I found out though:

Well I can drink milk and it’s fine……..I’m not a big caffeine person at all. I don’t drink coffee or energy drinks or anything….ulcer? Hmmmmm never know I guess.

I don’t think it’s heartburn. I just feel like I’m going to be sick.

The trouble with food intolerances is that they can spring up suddenly. You might want to consider seeing a dietician/intolerance specialist if other things start to affect you too. They can run some simple tests to find out exactly what it is that’s causing the problem. Sometimes it’s just one ingredient, so by checking the labels you may then be able to find alternatives.

In UK, your doctor can put you in touch with someone via the NHS and some health food stores run testing sessions now and then (though you would have to pay for a non-NHS service)

Hmm. Weird. I’d investigate into lactose intolerance first :) Go have a chat with the docs. Or maybe an ulcer.
OR it could be your currently high emotions and stress spoiling some thing you used to enjoy.

I’m not lactose intolerant for sure. I had ice cream AND milk over the weekend. No problem at all. I felt fine. It was delicious! lol Ulcer or stress could be a possibility….could I be pregnant?

lol… I know - but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity for a good joke :)

Morning sickness is usually across the board… wake up and puke sort of thing (from what I’ve seen). BUT pregnancy can cause sickness to certain things… my ex could not get within 100 yards of the smell of fish without getting sick.

lol… ok, too much nausea, stomach cramps and puke in this post… I’m out … good luck with your problem, for all we know your current batch of chocolate has some kind of mold in it that makes you feel this way :( I’m pretty sure it will pass… if not, then go see a doctor.
