work help: So this lady at work told me to apply for a FT job - Help.com

So this lady at work told me to apply for a FT job

(as I am a temp) she also made it a point to tell me in front of others that I was very qualified and would do well in the position. Then she goes and tells the hiring mang “she’s not dedicated and it would be a mistake to put her in this position” question A: why are women so wicked in the work place?( I am one myself but would never do something like that to anyone man or women) B: I have worked as temp at this location for 4 months, and now have no hope of getting hired on full time, should I ask my temp Agency to place me somewhere else and throw the work I have done for this company under the bus? I am kind of ranting but I am very hurt and confused and frustrated. And please I don’t need to hear there are many jobs out there. I am a qualified, educated, hard working person and I apply for jobs in all my spare time. Yet, I haven’t had an interview in a month. So any thoughts or suggestions on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

How do you know she said this to the hiring manager? Because if she did she would not be telling anyone that she said it… the hiring manager wouldn’t be telling anyone she said it… Have you fallen victim to listening to gossip?

she makes it quite evident…. she told others the samething…it’s as if it gives her some power of me in her mind….I guess I look at it as her projecting on me. she just gives off an untrustworthy air

update: She got the job. Now shes’s being oddly nice and apologetic to me and the two other people that applied. Even going as far as to explain why she told us to apply when she was completely aware she was in the front running for the job. The whole thing is odd to me. I dont really grasp it maybe. Sadly I don’t ever think I will be able to go far at work as I hope, due to the fact that I would/will never manner in which I have observed it takes to do so.(not only from this experiance but many) Lieing, manipulating and being 2 faced. Its not who I am. And in many ways its svrewing me over.

You didn’t mention you were pitched against her for a full time job…. That makes it a different set of circumstances…. To be honest her asking you to go for the job just ensured she had competition for the post and she couldn’t be later of accused of getting it because no one applied…. to then say you weren’t cut out for the job is what anyone would do if they want to make someone else look bad. Perfectly normal really but not very nice.

First Thanks for your advice! I know lady’s can be cut throat in the work place, I’m married to one (ha). Just kidding she is the greatest. I’m not qualified to give advice but I’d say be smart and don’t let emotions get involved. If she did something unethical she should be reported to a higher authority immediatly. Sometimes you catch more fly’s with honey if you know what I mean. Anyway good luck and be strong!
