i live in england and i want to buy a sidekick 2008 (gekko) and i was wondering if it would work on t mobile still?

i have the sidekick 2 at the moment and it works fine but my dad bought the sidekick 3 not that long ago and it wouldnt work in england, i really want the 2008 i just dont wanna be stuck with an expensive phone that doesnt work in england!! please can anyone help me out?
