I accidently killed my wifes yorki while backing out of the driveway.

We’ve been married 8 years and cannot have kids and this dog is her LIFE! She comes back home in two days. I dont think she will ever forgive me for this. What should I do?

she will forgive you, just it’s going to be miserable. I don’t envy you at all.

An old weekend drinking buddy of mine did that to his brand new puppy he got for his gf. He tied the puppy up to his bumper of his truck so he could get some air and be outside. Anyways his gf was pregnant and he wanted to get her something from the store and being a new dog he forgot about it and drove off while the dog was attached to the bumper. Lol, now that was sad. He felt bad, the gf felt bad. **** I met the puppy I felt bad.

Moral of story always check around the vehicle for small animals.

Normally I would recommend the truth but as I’ve been in a similar situation I know how tought it is. I had my mom’s dog put down because nobody wanted to care for it. She abandoned it in the town we were living in, I was going to school and my sisters were incapable of taking care of it. To this day when mom gets angry about something, she throws that in my face. I don’t feel guilty about it, it was the way my grandfather raised me, but it still sucks that she won’t let it go.

So yeah that’s what I recommend if you can live with telling her a lie.

Yeah I know that’s blatantly lying, but…

There were no witnesses that I know of…although our neighbors are pretty nosey. I think I can lie…I’m just afraid a neighbor saw. All the women of the neighborhood like to gossip. :(

yeah see if there is even a slight chance that a neighbor saw then you have to tell the truth and suffer the consequences. Otherwise if you tell a lie and get caught… well I’m sure I don’t need to explain!

Good luck to you with your decision and the fallout. I don’t envy you at all!

I recommend that you don’t buy a replacement until you talk to her about it, she might resent that even more.

“You can’t just replace a child with another one!!!” So on and so on!!!

if you lie, and she finds out…. Think about it.

Tell the truth, take the beating, help her through it, move on.

Peace

Purchase a new puppy!!! (not immediately)

I know it may not help… Caus she could end up not liking it…

But its important to be gentle with her. Remind her that these things happen, we are not immortal physical beings…

Good Luck…

I agree with RTD

Try to muster a few tears when you tell her…that will help
