My nan and grandad got married that way and that’s how they moved about with him being in MI5 (I can say that now because he died :(
But still, look into everything, where there is a will there is a way.
My guess is that she is sulking because she feels like she is being cut out of your life, maybe just proposing will show her that you want/need her (only if your ready that is)

That sounds like a good idea, if I can get to that stage.
I think she needs to feel like no matter what she will be appart of your life, she maybe trying to withdraw in order to save herself hurt if need be, even pretending to get on with life.

It’s not that she wants to withdraw. On the contrary, she keeps saying she’ll wait as long as I’ll need, but I’m finding that hard to believe.
Then maybe it is your issue to fight and not hers, you went away not her, she is waiting for you not the other way around, you thinking that way will no doubt end things the way you think they are going now just because you can’t believe someone can wait.
