weight loss help: I am ravenous at night and it’s a problem. - Help.com

I am ravenous at night and it’s a problem.

I started a new workout routine - three days a week in the mornings, but the last few days I get home at the end of the day and am just STARVING! Do I need more protien? Bulkier foods? Right now I’ve just been trying to not be hungry and I think that I’m blowing my calorie goal. HELP!

Don’t eat less than 3 hours prior to going to sleep. Eat a hearty, but low fat breakfast - fruit, oatmeal, yogurt, etc.. eat 4 other meals during the day. Not large. Lunch might be the largest, lighter dinner and two modest healthy snacks around 10 am and 3 or 4 pm. This will keep you blood sugar and metabolism up.

Rule of thumb: Eat like a King in the Morning, a Queen at midday and a Pauper in the evening.

And yes, lean protein - especially within an hour after a workout - is beneficial.

Also, drink water. Sometimes when the body is dehydrated an thirsty you have hunger pains. Make sure you drink lots of water and cut out soda, even diet. They dehydrate you and the aspartame is questionable.
