I have never had such a hard time writing an essay. - Help.com

I have never had such a hard time writing an essay.

I just can NOT focus. At ALL! I’ve been trying to write this stupid cause and effect of the Mexican American War paper for a week, and I have written exactly *drum roll* 1/4 of a page. and it has to be 4 pages. and it’s due tomorrow. I hate life.

seriously, though…4 hours I’ve dedicated just today to this paper, and I can’t move forward!
I would just go to bed and forget about it, but this paper is about 1/8th of my grade. >.

Relax! Find a CD you can listen to all the way through, and get some background noise (not too loud though). Close all other programs to distract you. Use this format:

Introduction
Point A
Point B
Point C
Conclusion

Organize your thoughts; fill in the points with information…
*Helpful hint* Long quotes, tables, or statistics about the topic are a great way to fill up some space, and you don’t even have to do any of the hard work.

Just keep writing, worry about editing later. Concentrate on getting something on the paper, and you’ll be amazed how fast it will fill up.

If you’re still having problems, you could always cheat by messing with the margins or font size.

Did your teacher give you a writing prompt or a list of ideas or topics or suggestions?

Just do what I do, regurgitate whatever your teacher wants to hear and fill it with enough drawn out statements and conclusions that it eventually reaches 4 pages. Gets me an A everytime. ;)
Remember, if a teacher says be creative what they really mean is rewrite whatever the topic is and make sure it fulfills whatever absurd requirement, like 5 pages or 5000 words, they deem necessary.

Hope you get your homework crap done and over with so you can pass the class. It’s worth it in the end. After 6 years, you won’t have to do anymore stupid writing classes ever again.
Have fun and don’t die.

Cheers!

I always found it was good to take all the information from the book. Reorganize it and reword it as my own then write it down. You have all the information you need there and so long as you don’t copy it word for word you’ll be good to go.
