DOG help: Help, mine and my brother’s dogs went missing on Christmas - Help.com

Help, mine and my brother’s dogs went missing on Christmas eve and I am worried…

My brother is my next door nieghbor and his dog finally showed up this evening staggering out of a trench that is between our 2 houses and yelping something awful. Can u please help me diagnose these symptoms: Staggering, Malaise, faintness, Joints in front legs Painful to move, Shaking as if in shock. What might have happened here? Could it be poison? …My dog is still missing going on 3 days now :-(

You need to get that dog to a vet immediately. I have no experience with such things, but there are a lot of reasons that dog could be having such pain. Sounds like he might have had some real trauma while he was out. Have you put up posters and contacted animal shelters about your dog?

I’m assuming this isn’t the dog that kept having babies under your house?

I will pray that your dog will come home safely. Will you be getting your brothers dog to the vet soon?

Like I said, I don’t know a lot, but I guess there are a few options. #1-The dog is probably exhausted, malnourished and just needs to sleep and eat and be safe for a while.
#2-I guess it could be poison, but lets hope not.
#3-My cat had similar symptoms years ago. She was not physically injured, she had been outside with her sister when her sister was attacked and killed by another animal. My little cat was terrified and in shock and sad much like a person would be. We had to make sure she ate and drank and slept. We always stayed with her so she felt safe and she never really went outside for more than a minute again. I’m not saying the dog saw an animal killed, just that he might of seen or experienced something that scared him very bad.

girl of grace: it’s very strange both your animals would disappear on the same day. Sounds like poison may have been put out. The symptoms, tremors and the shaking, etc. sound a bit like distemper; then again both dogs wouldn’t have a situation on the same weekend.
The other wretched possibility–antifreeze. Was anyone around your house working on their car with antifreeze. The liquid is very sweet tasting and dogs love it. It is very poisonous.
Your dog needs immediate veterinary help. And I’m hoping you have animal insurance. It might be expensive.
Please let us know what happens to both the animals. It’s so hard when your pet is lost or sick and you don’t know what is happening to them. I know I always imagine the worst.
Praying for you guys!
