Microsoft Excel Question, make a changing variable static after a condition is met.
Basically, I have a project in one of my classes where we need to keep track of when we complete things and such. Well, so far I’ve been tracking it manually and I was hoping there was a way to have it do it automatically.
I have three columns: name of task, task complete?, and date completed. Name I obviously have to type in and the task complete column was so I could put an if statement in the date column so that IF(B2=”X”, date, ” “), with date being the thing I have to change every time I update something. It’s helpful when we complete a lot of things in one day cause I can just copy the contents and drag it down, but recently we haven’t and so I’m doing a lot of editing when it was suppose to be saving me time.
Anyway, I’m going to be doing this for the rest of the semester at least, so I was wondering if it was possibly for me to write something to take care of that. If there is an X in B2 (for example), I want ‘date’ to equal today’s date, and become static so that it doesn’t change when tomorrow comes around. Is that possible?
