Doesn’t matter if they believe you or not…. the important thing is if you are telling the truth about the teacher then the head needs to know…. he/she should deal with it appropriately which means they need to see the teacher now to see what you are seeing…

if it’s that noticeable duh…how can they not?

How do you know the teacher is high? And if the teacher is high how do you know how he or she got that way?? I don’t believe in reporting suspicions and potentially ruining someone’s career. Also, why are YOU playing around on help.com instead of attending to your studies??

Honestly, I think Richard has a valid point SirTannen. In most states, and in most districts, most teachers are being made to take a urine test to make sure that they are not doing drugs. It’s becoming state law in most states. Also along with a background check, so no drug users, pedophiles get to work with children.

If the teacher was as high as the poster said, I am sure somebody else would have turned him in. I think it’s just a student with nothing to do who just felt like trolling and just trying to have fun. That is why I gave the responses I gave.

I’d say reactions should depend upon what subject is being taught. If the individual is teaching Literature and high, they should be congratulated! Take a look at the substance histories of the many great literary figures in history and I think it’ll be apparent that substance use contributes to the field of Literature.

Now if we’re talking Macro-Economics, and this guy/gal is puffing the cheeba… that’s just no good.

I’ve never in my life met a teacher that thinks they deserve to keep a job BECAUSE the get high. I’ve not even met an alcoholic that thinks they DESERVE to keep their job BECAUSE they get high at work. That is a ludicrous question. If there were such a person, I would like to have them fired as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, they could claim that they have a problem with substance abuse and in many States automatically become a “protected class”, and like pregnant women, unable to be fired for that reason. Nick is correct. The screening done to teachers is amazing. That’s not to say there are not teachers out there with problems, I’m sure there are. And if I ever saw with my own eyes, a teacher getting high before class, I would first talk to that teacher, then still report them if appropriate. But without first hand knowledge, I would not assume anything, and put someones career at stake.
