I am looking for a decent paying job/career but there’s one problem…

All the skills that I have I cant use on a resume. I’m not proud of what I did but I will say I was one of the best at it! To me its the same as being the ceo of a fortune 500 corporation, anyway when you become accustomed to a certain pay and lifestyle its hard to go to deadend burger world! I have a lot of skills and someone should be able to use them. I am not a dead beat, I raise my kids with morals and values and they do not know anything negative about their dad. If anyone can help then do it please!!! I feel like I am running out of options

I’m sure many places would accept a master thief. Or assassin.

Get a job in sales? Start easy, build a reputation and move up from there. If you are as good as you seem to believe, you should be able to move up the food chain quickly into hard-core sales. High profitability, and many companies now offer rehab programs with their benefits packages!

Yeah if you are who I think you are sales is for you… I know of several people who had a whole lot of connections and for one reason or another had to get out of the business they were in and started selling cars. If you were able to support yourself with the other job you should be able to make just as much money selling cars to your friends who are currently raking in tax free money. And you are legal. One of my buddies started selling 300 cars a year and making $350,000 a year.

The advice I have might be pretty broad because I’m not sure on your work background, but it could also be helpful (I hope so anyway!).

If you can’t list your previous job for what it was, is there some way to rephrase the job title and description so that you can still list those skills? I’ve done work where the job title wasn’t specified and just made up my own job titles with a brief explanation of what I did in that role. Do you think it would be possible for you to do that? Or you could simply list the skills you’ve built up under a heading like “Other relevant skills/experience”.

Another option is to look into community college courses that will build your skills base and give you a certificate etc that you can list on your resume. You might also be able to get linked up with jobs through doing that sort of thing. Good luck with it, I hope you find a job really soon!

What I would do is enter an experience resume. Don’t list your employers, just your experiences. Example:
SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS

SALES & MARKETING ACCOUNTING
Maintaining Sales Accounts Payable
throughout the year Accounts Receivables
Cold Calls Profit and Loss
Coordinate Weddings Payroll
and Large Group Events Inventory Control
Famous Arrivals Food Cost
Negotiation

CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM DEVELOPMENT
Raised mystery shops Interviewing
From 45% to 71% Training
Increased Customer Surveys Minor Laws / CO-OP
From 35% to 41% Performance Evaluations
Decreased Customer Complaints
By 50%
Ability to handle difficult situations

I get compliments on my resume, just a suggestion…. hope it helps…
