If It’s an emergency or a life or death situation, a doctor will treat you and then notify your parents. The legalities of the matter are worked out after your parents are notified as long as it was a life or death situation. As far as the insurance, they also base their decision on whether to cover you if it was a real life or death situation.

Your parents don’t want to take you to the doctor?

you’re underage so if your parents have like a family plan that’ll prob cover you, but how much or for what depends on the plan. if your parents are stopping you from getting medical help you need and it’s causing you to get worse(like if it’s an illness) or like littlenick said, if it’s a matter of life and death then yea, you have a right to be treated.

its not a life or death situation. ive just been battling some mental thing for three years and my parents wont seek help for it. im a junior and my grades are really being effected by it and im getting really weary im afraid that my old depression may come back and eat me away again. i used to cut and the urges are a lot stronger then they have in almost two years. i just would like someone to take care of me for a change im only one person its hard to deal with it all by myself. i feel embarassed by it so i dont like talking about it but im starting to feel really desperate.

i just want to check so i wont be asking myself years from now if i had just gotten the courage so ask for help that maybe i wouldnt have wasted away some of my youth feeling like i do. if nothing is wrong then im just left where i am now no harm can come from this. but if i can make my life easier my god it would be amazing.

yea, if you’ve already asked your parents and they don’t want to talk to the counselor. after they talk if they still don’t go for it, i’m sure he/she will have more ideas of getting you what you need.

If it’s something having to do with mental issues, drugs or alcohol, abuse, assault…something like that then you don’t need parental consent. Other than that you do.

i already have been talking to my school counselor he pretty much told me natural methods i have been developing for three years. i have done so much self healing but im only sixteen im guessing my way through it so im not truely solving the underlinging problems. last time i went to the counselor they called my parents i got in sooooo much trouble and then the couselors didnt check up again. my mom is an alchoholic and she is very manipulative. so she was able to “fix” the problem i made with the couselors and then went back to telling me how much i want attention and want to be a freak.

Don’t take any notice of your mam. I’d go back to the councilor, ask if you can speak without them telling your parents this time. and if not then ask if they know anyone else that could help you. You mam’s just being nasty, take no notice, she obviously doesn’t understand and you are not a freak. loads of people have problems with depression. It’s not something to feel ashamed or embarresed of. and most people who need help DO need attention.-obviously or they aren’t going to get any help. but what is wrong with wanting/needing attention anyway? Everyone likes a certain amount of attention.its not a bad thing, its normal.

Maybe my last reply doesnt count, I jumped in too quick.I thought you where asking about seeing a doctor.
