If there was a choice to die today knowing that I would only have 31 one years of life under my belt; or live another 105 years.

I would chose to die today. I feel so badly that the life I’m living is not worth living and every day I wish I didn’t have to live it. could some one please tell me what makes life worth living. I wish I knew the secret to wanting to live. it’s only a feeling my head says live your life but I feel i’m rather lost in this life I’m living and if given the choice I don’t think it’s a good life. I’m not a bad person; I’m always doing good things. How can I change the way I feel?

You need to create for yourself a purpose to live. It can really be anything that gets you excited to get out of bed, from helping the homeless to finding cold fusion to Folger’s in your cup. You just need a reason to get excited for tomorrow, I hope that helps.

it helps - but my problem is getting myself to believe that my future has not only a purpose but I will wont to fulfill that purpose. I’m lost. I don’t dare hope I will get what I want. getting what I want never happends.

The only advice I can really give you for that is to try to live in the moment. It is very hard when you keep looking at “Will it really pay off?” but if you can get out of that frame of mind you will find it will pay off more. Remember, every failure brings you closer to your next (or first) big success.

Getting what we want requires two things: Planning and discipline.

I knew people that wanted to die in their early twenties and felt they couldn’t go on and most of them had a form of depression. Depression is difficult to diagnose with most people but one thing stands out; they all do not feel joy or motivation.

Feeling joyous takes self-acceptance and loving oneself. Once you have accepted what you can and can not do nothing will stop you from having a truly happy life. When depressed people generally if they muster up and adopt other peoples joy that will make them happier. They really need professional help. I don’t recommend medication but, there are life tools that can be used to uplift a person’s feelings.

You might want to read Eckhardt Tolle’s “The Power of Now” or “A New Earth”. In these books he describes our ego’s and how our thinking is devour by them. I hope you will see how you spend your time thinking. You are in control of thoughts so many of us don’t think we are.

Change your mind and you will change your life. I hope you will consider seriously to get professional help. Good luck to you.

You know, im young but the thing is that you need to live for God. Im having alot of trouble also, life really isn’t fun. Even when you live for God he’ll put you through trials but not any too hard for you to handle. When things arent going good you really need to pray, it’ll make you feel alot better, and choosing to die now isnt such a sure deal. If you die now do you know you will make it to heaven to serve god forever? Or would you burn in hell? Because if i died right at this moment, I wouldnt know where imn going, i’d like to be sure, i dont know about you, if your not interested in God, try to be, even though it sufficiently hard. Good Luck!

Adriennen, please don’t threaten somebody with hell when they are going through a problem, it usually doesn’t help.

Something I had read once had helped me.
“Life is a war. Doctors fight against disease. Lawyers fight against injustice. Teachers fight against ignorance. Depression happens when you loose the will to fight. The decision to fight can take away your depression.” - Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

The life that God gave us is not for getting what we want, its for giving what people around us need. And for being enlightened enough to enjoy what we get. Thats why we have been made human, we have been given intelligence to decide, hands to do, legs to reach out and feelings to feel.

You are just lost in a dark jungle and instead of keeping your eyes closed thinking its dark, if you keep your eyes open your eyes will soon get adapted to the darkness around and you will see several paths crisscrossing your way. You will only have to decide on a path and follow it. Dont cross through the jungle impatiently trying to reach its edge, because when you reach its edge (which you will, no matter which path you take) you will realise there is nothing ahead, the jungle that you left behind was everything. If you are impatient you will miss the beautiful birds perched on the trees because you hadnt cared to look up, because you were too busy thinking of the small cut on your leg, you would miss the fresh scent of the mud when it rained.. You would not realise that where you think you are lost is heaven and there is nothing else other than this jungle.

If you think your life is not good then this is the one opportunity. You are fortunate you realised your life is not good before reaching its end. So why not make it good?

Thanks Genesis. Though I may have said it beautifully I myself am resisting the urge of reaching the edge. Desires are devils and they can be so strong that they make us feel our lives are worthless. I havent yet figured out how to combat this devil successfully and not be victimised by it. If anyone knows kindly enlighten.

I don’t know as I am wrestling myself from time to time. The devil you speak of is the “Ego”.

I have read some wonderful books about the Ego from Eckhardt Tolle. They opened my eyes to a lot of things. They are called “A New Earth and The Power of One”.
