I got the H1N1 virus and a secondary infection.

My voice is stripped and i am a voice major. I’ve missed two weeks already and i am still not up to par and will not be able to sing for 3-4 more weeks. I keep having relapses after i go back to school however, if i don’t go i will fail my classes. I want to keep my financial aid and i have no job to support me if i drop. however if i cannot catch-up i will lose my financial aid for next semester. what should i do?

no it isn’t, however every time i go anywhere there is a huge risk of catching any virus because the H1N1 virus brings your immune system down so badly. If you are able to get the vaccine you should especially if you have underlying illnesses and so on.

good that your not in risk of death. i actually decided against the vaccine for various reasons, but that aside, is there anyway you can talk to someone in the finacial aid department? givin your current circumstances, I think they might understand.

H1N1 doesnt “bring down your immune system”, it is a flu. just like any other flu. the key to recovery is rest, is all. the reason you keep getting sick is because youre running yourself down with stress and trying to sing etc when youre not fully recovered.
your college should have some sort of compassionate consideration policy for continued illness, check with your student advisors and college admin.
