Tourettesguy anyone?

Who has heard of this man? His videos are outright offensive (I know he sadly passed away, but I think his videos must be banned from the internet because they portray Tourette’s in such a horrific way - some people may have Tourette’s as severely as he was pretending and it is horrible for them to be exposed to this, considering it is the first thing that comes up when you search Tourette’s on youtube.)

It says a lot about our society when people find disability hilarious.

There is controversy over the authenticity of the video maker’s claims that he had Tourettes. There is even controversy over the authenticity of his death. I couldn’t tell you what is or isn’t true. Surprisingly, none of the major reputable news channels seem to cover the story. At least, I haven’t found an article yet. The original website has disappeared, despite this announcement that appeared on it: “Shortly, we will be posting a letter from the person who discovered Danny”. What do I think? (and I stress this is purely my personal speculation) I wonder if someone somewhere was about to get majorly sued.

The videos have been very much condemned by organisations working to raise awareness of Tourettes. The antics of this character “Danny” are not typical of Tourettes and his videos even carry a disclaimer to that effect. Parents of children with the condition have expressed their relief that the website no longer exists and wish the videos would too.

For those who think Tourettes is all about swearing and shouting involuntarily, here are some links to help understand what it is REALLY about:

“why do you have to make fun of it?” - these are the words of a child with Tourette’s from a much better video which you can watch here: http://www.tsa-usa.org/news/HBO_Relea…

You are such a fantastic person :D Do you have personal experience, because you appear to be outstandingly compassionate? Thanks for the comment - there is a petition set up to ban videos portraying Tourette’s in a negative way - I’ll post the link if I find it. Thanks again.

Thank you for your sweet comment. My only experience stems from my work and training and from meeting people from very diverse backgrounds and circumstances. I consider myself fortunate to have enjoyed learning from many “special” people. :)
