I don’t celebrate halloween because of religous reasons.
Now i have a lot of the reasoning as to why i don’t. I don’t want to start some religous conflicts here, i just want to know if there are any people like me who don’t celebrate Halloween, and tell me what you think about it. Does God like it?

Aw really?
I never had a problem with it because its become so dissociated with its origins. I like to dress up and I like to eat candy. Just because I’m doing these things on the same day samhain(I apologize if I spelled that wrong, I’m not sure) was celebrated doesn’t mean I’m celebrating the same thing. It’s harmless as far as I can tell, and what’s more, it’s fun :3

Well i’ve been Christian for 4 years, but i celebrated it for a while, but i found it as an evil holiday. Don’t want to get into deep information but i prefer to not dress up, before i even knew about this holiday in depth, i always thought and wondered if God didn’t like it. So in conclusion i don’t like it, but handing out candy to the kids is fine, but i don’t like celebrating it, i feel like i’m celebrating something that i shouldn’t.
considering the fact that halloween is an entirely non-religious holiday, i think god may just not give a flying **** what you do.
uuuh, you do know that modern halloween has its roots in a celtic festival called Samhein….but mainly in a Christian solemnity called “all saints day” right?
so the halloween youre rejecting for religious reasons was in fact, begun by your very own religion?

No, like i said i won’t go into deep depth but i believe it’s possibly “satanic”. Though we have Americanized it so much. We haven’t been comepletely educated of it.
now wait… you won’t explain yourself, but describe the holiday as ’satanic’? You’ll have to explain… if not, then how are we supposed to take you seriously? I mean… do you celebrate Christmas? It’s got a bit of a pagan origin… so… explain… yourself… maybe?
O_o
its..not satanic. its a well established historical fact that All Saints day, or All Hallows Eve is a christian/catholic day commemorating the souls in heaven which have reached beautific vision, and for souls which have not yet been purified and reached heaven in catholic theology.
thats fact bro.

I might be offending people if i go further more, i don’t want to cause a religous stirr.
Hiyas, I haven’t celebrated, or recognized halloween or any holiday for that matter in 10 years! So I stand in agreement with you! Worldy holidays are not favored by God.
oh my god. are you serious?
do you have ANY historical knowledge at ALL?
this is a holidy with CHRISTIAN origin. CHRISTIAN. as in your OWN god?!
so christmas, birthdays, easter, theyre all out too i guess? seeing as they are all christian holidays also?

Thank you! finally someone understands. Now one of my friends on here made a great point. When she was a kid, they wouldn’t allow “evil” costumes at their church. She still give out candy for trick-or-treating but otherwise she doesn’t celebrate it.

google it. Halloween itself is a bad holiday, all saints day is a good holiday.
no, YOU google it. you really need to not just accept what some madman at the pulpit tells you. do your own research.
halloween stems from two religious days.
the catholic All Saints day, and the christian All Hallows Eve.
it is essentially a festival of the dead, commemorating those who have passed.
halloween IS all saints day.

Now there is a good, and a bad side to it. End of story i don’t wanna start a huge conflict…
well, you cant post a post like this, which is quite obviously factually very inaccurate, then expect people to not question it.
as far as im concerned, this isnt a “conflict”, its an education for people who believe what theyre told, not what is actually true.
believe what you want to bro, but if i were you, i would get my facts right first, otherwise some might go as far as calling you intentionally ignorant.
nuff’ said.
are you all christians because i am and my mom makes it seem so bad to celebrate halloween so im only 12 and in the 7th grade so i dont know what to do.

Don’t let her make you think that way. Halloween is just in my opinion, not my favorite holiday… There is no problem with celebrating it, but i choose to keep my beliefs with me. Many people don’t understand the other side to it. God can make it a good holiday, but like i said, there are two sides to it. You can trick-or-treat, dress up, that’s fine, i just choose to not participate in it. I honor the saints but i don’t honor the wicked spirits that helped start this holiday (evil). These wicked spirits were satanists, and they did witchcraft. Now honestly i have recently, just last year found that part out. But chose to honor the saints on all saints day, don’t expose yourself to those bad spirits who you do not want to confront. I try to think of it as an Americanized holiday, rather than it coming from the origons that i mentioned.
Well, okay, so now Christmas used to be ILLEGAL, and no these holidays, Halloween, Easter, Christmas, ****. Paddy’s day are absolutely NOT in the bible, the one exception is Easter, but it is in the King James version of the bible, and it was put in there on purpose, not by mistake- although it is an error because Easter is not in the original Hebrew. I assure you Courtneybubble, I have all my t’s crossed, I’s dotted and I am not listening, nor have I ever listened to a person behind the pulpit when it comes to matters of scripture. I am truly led by the Holy Spirit, as My God does not absolutely does not recognize man’s ways as HIS ways.
Halloween was - all sait’s eve, and if someone does the research they will find that it was a certain religion that Christianized this day to allow the pagans to keep thier festival as well as Christmas.
How can a holiday be good, when “all Saints day ” was used to pray to the dead saints on the living relatives behalf? No this is clearly against God, but I don’t want to take away from this post… but just wanted to clear the air- I am secure in knowing that NOT partaking in these things, is a personal choice and it is one that has been researched and it is well with my soul.
“As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.”
G’day. Stay safe.

Take a look at this everyone. Now like i said, i need to you promise me to not start a huge conflict about this, just respect eachother’s beliefs. To me, It is Satan’s objective to get all to worship him. God tells us to not have any thing to do with this. Many people believe this actually, it’s not only me.
Have i explained myself enough? Please, i ask that you actually take time to read my link.
ugh, you actually have it factually all wrong. you actually seriously do. but trying to convince a christian they are mislead is like trying to break a concrete wall with your little toe.
im out, go ahead and be wrong.
I don’t know if the article is factually correct or not, I don’t know enough about Halloween’s origins to say, but even assuming that is all correct, the article never proves that Halloween is the same today as it was back then. Yes we have the symbols, the jack-o-lanterns, the skeletons, the trick-or-treating. But they mean different things today. When the kids who come to your door say “trick or treat,” do ANY of them actually mean “Give us candy or we’ll curse you and your house with evil witchcraft?” Just like the meaning of that phrase the meaning of the other symbols has changed. Most of them are just spooky decorations now, meant to scare but do no actual harm.
The symbols and language have evolved over a long enough period of time that I think its safe to say Halloween has a completely different meaning for the average trick-or-treater today.
I’m sure you’ve had your fill of being bombarded by people. I just wanted to tell you no, you are not alone in this. I don’t either. It’s a Pagan holiday and I’m not pagan. My family makes the day hell for me every year though :(
I just don’t get why people get so mad at the Christians who don’t celebrate halloween. I don’t see them getting mad at Jewish people who don’t celebrate Christmas.
I don’t think anyone here is mad. It just doesn’t make sense to us the way a Jewish person not celebrating Christmas would. To those of us who celebrate it, Halloween isn’t a pagan holiday anymore. Christmas used to be a pagan holiday too, but that doesn’t mean it is today does it? Why should it be different with Halloween?

I understand what your saying, it has “evolved” much, but to my beliefs it is still the same way it was a very long time ago.
It’s great you’re following your beliefs!

Thank you.
TL;DR: OP is a moron. theres no satanic implications to halloween except the ones put there by your silly head.
a second point, “lots of people believe the same thing as me” is a rubbish argument. its the same hivemind attitude that allowed for the flourishing of Nazism, Terrorism, and your hated Satanism.
and while i can certainly respect you for your convictions, i refuse to respect anyone with a willful ignorance and a closed mind.
I don’t celebrate it for the reason that it is a load of rubbish……..
my mom used to not let me and my bro go trick or treating. we would go to “fall festival” at church which happened to be on halloween and we wore costumes - but nothing evil. it really hurt that we couldnt do what the “normal” kids do (not many kids were ever there and switched churches alot so it wasnt like we were with friends) — something that happened alot in my childhood. i’m a christian now and i have two sweet nieces. my sister is not a christian, but if she were it would kill me to think of her doing the same to them. i always go out with my nieces trick-or-treating, but to me it’s not a “celebration” of halloween; its just a day where everyone dresses up and gets candy and just has some fun. its all about what it means to you. there are people out there who make it an evil day, but you can make it just some good fun. if it helps your mindset you can instead celebrate the day that martin luther posted the 95 theses - sparking the protestant reformation. “celebrate” that instead.

Well the way I see it, is it based on a pagan holiday? Yes. But guess what, so is Christmas and Easter, and a good majority of the calendar holidays, yet most celebrate these with no issue and don’t give it a sencond thought. I honestly don’t have a problem with them because i believe as long as your heart is in the right place when celebrating them (at Christmas, even though that’s not when Christ was born think of that, same for Easter, and ect.as for halloween i see nothing wrong with dressing up and eating some candy =]) but that’s just me.
