Can I afford it?

I want to learn to play the piano and I did some research on eBay. I found one for $695 in pristine condition. I am not working, but I have around $5000 of extra cash. I will be in college next semester, so money is hard to come by. I want to learn to play, but can I afford that? Opinions?

Have you thought about working towards scholarships?

Scholarships have paid my entire tuition and books so far… I’m not too worried right now about how to pay for school.

I wouldn’t buy a full sized piano until you knew how to play, especially if money is tight. You can just buy an electric keyboard. It’s smaller, but it’s basically the same thing and way cheaper.

Oh, I didn’t mention that did I. Well, it is an electric piano. No special features or anything fancy. It’s a Yamaha P90 if you guys want to google it really quick.

Hmm well it sounds like you have enough scholarships haha. If you “have” to wait for the right time to buy it, you should just wait for it. Renting one could be an alternative, but i don’t know if you’d want to do that, if you found a cheap, good quality one you should buy it rather than renting. Just throwing ideas out here :/

Not a piano, a keyboard.
