My Father.

I haven’t seen my dad in a little over ten years now, he left my mom and family after he got into some legal problems and never came back. Now that Im 19 and grown I kinda want to find him. The only problem with that is I don’t know how to go about it. My sister went on some website and narrowed it down to a city and state but are there ways of finding him without paying someone?

Also my main reason for finding him is to basically “give him a piece of my mind”, show him my siblings and I are amazing without him, and honestly I’d like to punch him in the face.

Do you think it would be worth trying to find him…and if found, contacting him?

And “giving him a piece of mind” is going to do what for you?

Nothing really, I just want him to know that him leaving didnt screw us up…Ive been told that he wont care either way, He didnt care when he left. I guess its a way of making myself feel better about it.

I don’t think you should worry about him anymore.

Nothing wrong with giving him a piece of your mind, certainly sounds like he deserves it. You know better then anyone whether you should do it..maybe by talking to him finally and telling him off you’ll be able to get over him.

Don’t punch him in the face. You could get arrested, or worse, he could kick your ***. Instead fill a balloon full of pee and peg him with it. I’d aim for the chest so he doesn’t duck and dodge it. Tell him since he missed so much of your life you thought you’d give him a sample.

Leave things in the past. Instead of dwelling on the past think about your amazing future without him. There is no need to find him to feel better. it is a waste of time effort and possibly money. You could soend this time improving yourself by going back to school or bettering yourself in your work place to get a promotion. You didn’t need him growing up to be a man. You don’t need him now to be a man.
Good Luck my friend

As much as I would like to say it is time to brake in a new baseball bat I can’t. I dealt with incidents similar to what you went through so I have an idea of where you are coming from. You don’t need to go yell at him or anything like that. The only way you will be able to deal with this well is to forgive him. I know it is hard. I went from having a knife to my stepfather’s throat to forgiving him. It was a long hard process, but it was worth it. What you do is up to you, but please don’t let the bitterness control you. Going down that road will only bring you more pain.

You don’t know what kind of personal hell your father went through. He may have felt he had no choice but to leave and “draw fire” away from his family.

That’s the thing about making judgments.

And remember this: everybody is fighting a battle that no one else knows about!

P.S. How about finding him and extending the olive branch?

White pages maybe? If you know his current name, most people are on white pages.
