What is the definition of happiness?
I saw a documentary recently that seriously changed my perspective on life its called ” I am because we are.” Its about the second poorest country in the world Malawi in Africa. 12 million people inhabit this country out of those 12 million there is 1 million orphans, whose parents died due to aids etc. What I find incredible is that although they barely eat, sleep on floors, drink murky waters they look 10 times happier than the people here at home (USA). There smiles are genuine, and not faked or forced. They hug their friends, appreciate any little thing that they get. I feel like although I have worked for everything in my life…I dont deserve it…because i cant smile like them. I cant hug my parents without feeling weird. I cant genuinely smile. Why is that?
I mean seriously, there has to be something wrong with us as an “advanced” civilization when we cant even feel anything anymore, everything is numb…humanity is gone here. Maybe its just me. After I saw the documentary I donated money, now im thinking of going over there and volunteering to help and maybe ill find happiness. What do you think? Am I wrong here? Should I be feeling this way?
