Does highlighting your hair damage it?

I want to get highlights, my hair is just plain black and that’s it. It looks boring to me. So i wanna highlight it, but my hair is kinda a little damaged (not completely fried) and I’m in the process of healing it. But i still want highlights. Does highlights damage your hair? I wanna dye them like chocolate brown.

But I don’t wanna risk ruining my hair again!!

LOL yea it does, bt no more thn anything else! Meh, I’d do it anyway..then continue the healing process i say lol! Don’t do it out of a box or anything! sleep with your hair in a really good creamy conditioner and wrap it up in a plastic bag or something n do it like once a week!

It can make your hair feel and seem dry. When your getting highlights you are basicaly bleaching your hair for a certain amount of time to get the color you want. So yes it can damage your hair, but it will look awesome ;)

P.S) If this is your first time ever getting them, you need to get a professional to do it for you. I got my highlights re-done 2 nights ago and I allways have it done professionaly and they can tell you weather or not your hair can handle it or not.

Yes they damage your hair…. get your hair as healthy as possible before you do anything else to it… use a good hairdresser and condition it well after the highlights are put in…. and remember altering the structure of your hair which is what you are doing when you dye it can make it break off…. split ends galore and in severe cases hair loss from the root…. so use a good hairdresser

They damage your hair, big time. I remember my hair to be really smooth before highlighting it, and now my friends call it a broom. My hair gets tangled and it’s just really terrible. Am not gonna highlight my hair again..Heh!

then you’ll have to wait until your hair heals before you dye it again
