My partner is in prison!

He’s only been in a couple of months, but facing a few years! What can I say or do to comfort him and help him along?

Visit him and write him letters once in a while.
I knew of someone close to me i met on this site about almost 3 years ago and he was put to jail. Since we lived oceans apart, i would respond to a number of letter he sent to me almost everyday.

i think you have to assess whether this is something you can handle..i suppose you have as you are looking to see how to keep his spirits up. but, you will be apart for a long time it looks like. consider his heart.

other than that i guess all you can do is keep up contact, let him know that he is no way forgotten about.

You can’t really solve his loneliness and fears while he is there. Me ex told me, it was hell in that place. But that is all you can do, be there for him. Just a reminder: being him inside gives him the tendency to be overly protective, jealous and doubtful, needless to say he is helpless bec he is inside. So you got to be prepared for that, see if you can handle it.

By the way, what made him in prison?

Lol yea, i think im prepared for that because i know how i’d feel in that situation. But i try to reassure him as much as i can. He’s in for a robbery that was done years ago. He’s a good man, who made mistakes as a boy. But wrong doings catch up with you.

I see. I don’t know the number of years he has to stay there but try to think if you can do all the waiting.

why is he there?
you should encourage him to rehabilitate himself, learn a new trade or skill while he is there, a few even, so he has options when he gets out and doesnt just go back to crime.

lol thanks I appreciate your advice. Although we were working together before he went in…he’s not a career criminal or anything! But thank you.
