PSU Question

I am trying to fix a laptop for a friend, but unfortunately he didn’t give me a plug and the battery is dead. I have an exernal battery charger whose output is 19V 6.32A however the laptop requires 19V with a 3.2A is it safe to use this Battery charger?

Yeah. It just means it rated UP TO 6.32 amps and it won’t shove more charge into the laptop than the laptop will draw anyway. When PSU died and I got a replacement; both the voltage and current are higher (21V instaead of 18V) and the current (6.0A instead of 4.1A). As long as the connection is the same and the polarity is the same it should be perfectly fine :)

How do you know the polarity?

Well usually there will be a diagram like
http://www.synthresource.com/synth/Ha…
And you just make sure that it mathes the output given on the PSU.

No; it just woudn’t turn on. Most are pretty standard to be honest so I’d just try it and see.

About what? You have been very helpful, without you I would have been lost. He will just have to bring the charger I wouldn’t mind but it is a bus driver in another county and I don’t have their contact number so … I will talk to him tomorrow.
