Is this weird?

I’m a girl in yr 12, and my formal/prom/grad/whatever you call it is coming up later this month.
I don’t know many guys, and the ones I have asked have all can’t come.
The tickets are quite expensive and I really don’t want to waste money.
So yesterday I asked one of my longest friends who I’ve known since primary school if she wanted to come with me, as it would be a good opportunity to catch up and dress up.

So, I guess I’m asking: is it weird if I ask a girl? I’m a bit worried about what people will think, or if they’ll think I’m a lesbian or bisexual, because I’m not. I just want to have a good time with someone I know and feel comfortable to be myself around.

My friends know I’ve invited her and they think it’s okay, but I still can’t help worrying about the prejudice.
I guess I should just let it go. I’ll probably never see most of these people again anyway (and I don’t really want to either) so in the end I suppose it doesn’t really matter.

aww my gosh. There’s nothing wrong with going to the prom with a girl? lol
i went to my prom and had a great time with my lass friends. who says it all has to be about couples. we had a great time and we were just friends lol
just go. It’s all about having fun. no one thought it was weird of us having a dance. It was like a fun girly night without guys(that we knew lol). quite good actually. go and enjoy yourself lass :)
