Screw a major in economics, why is there not a business major here?

Way too much math pre-req, but whatever, I’m only paying $50,000 a year. Why? Because the education system in the US is so messed up.

Well, US Universities are ranked the higest in the world (18 out of the top 20 universities are in the US). Econ requires math for a reason - because math is a useful skill. If more Americans were better at math, then we would not be falling behind Asian countries in certain technical fields. That being said, I totally agree that 50,000 a year for tuition is ridiculous. I would suggest transferring to a less expensive school that has a business major. Most universities have a business major. You might also think about studying abroad, as foreign universities can be quite a bit cheaper, and international business experience is becoming more and more useful.

lol, well I suppose it should follow that high schools cater to the requirements of college so that the stratification between elite and average/sub-par high schools doesn’t intensify, but the problem is that they don’t and students end up losing. I’m not against paying for college, but it’s a shame when you want more than you’re getting.

Word. Most valuable business experience can be gained in the “real world” anyway. Why not finish at a cheap school as a business major, get some business experience, and then go back and get your MBA later? A lot of companies will pay for you to get your MBA, and you can study nights or weekends while you work.
