If I’m not mistaken, I’m pretty sure cold sores are common. The internet sometimes over exaggerates things, like if you google certain things they’ll show you what things look like at their worst. Cold sores are easily treated. However, if you have a phobia of them, then I guess it would get the best of you.

OK, so your moms friend said it to you first of all. There are a number of ways to get it kissing someone who has a open wound, or drinking after them, and yea the toothbrush too. You know you are being so aware of it already which is great. Some people do not know and end up with it for life. But that being said it does not at all mean that you will get it, you would have to carelessly kiss someone who has the wound or drink after them, you whatever. I really do understand the fear, you do not want it, but because you are now so smart about it I am 100% certain that you are never going to have to deal with it. You just got its in your mind with the photos and all and now it hard to not think about, am I right?

I was worried about that too. I started dating a guy that had cold sores and I was scared that I would get them. We have lived together 2 years, we have shared toothbrushes, kissed, and shared the same drink I still don’t have cold sores. I figured if I do its a risk I would take to share a life with such a great guy. You should try not to worry about it so much.

Yes you have to try to not touch it so much so it can get all better. Why don’t you put some Chapstick on it instead of touching it? Oh and you should look up fear and what God says about that:)

i use chapstick to much. lol. but theres this red thing in the corner of my mouth and like there was no tingling burning or itchying it just felt soooooo dry. anywayss. ive actually prayed to God, and during Religion in class my teacher was like. ok lets let God speak to us. so we did this thing. and i got the message DO NOT WORRY. like underlined.. it was so weird. but i cant get over it

But you know that can not be anything, because first of all you never kissed anyone and never drank after anyone and your not doing anything to expose yourself to it. Fear is not from God BTW:)

My advice, get some lip gloss (if your a girl) or chapstick and apply it whenever you want, it will stop you from touching your lips all the time because coldsores are usually formed from a general bacteri infection (due to rubbing/cuts and sores) and also stress, if your freaking out about getting one then the likely hood is you will get one..
Besides, a coldsore is nothing at all, i had one once, yeah annoying but it soon clears up and then that’s it over with, haven’t had one since.

They have a point though, once you get one you will see that there is no big deal with a coldsore at all.

What you need to do is assess the situation.
If you get a cold sore what is the VERY WORST thing that could happen?

You tell me.

ok i could pass it onto others, i could be like very self contious for like a week. people might not want to come near me. the “thing” will pop up like every so often. id rather just have healthy lips and not known for the girl who has coldsores. what if boys dont date girls with them??

Ahhh I think I get it now, the whole issue about a coldsore is all down to vanity and what other people will think…

It’s a coldsore, you don’t have 2 heads or a green face it is just a little red cracked thing on the edge of your lip that clears up after a couple of days.
