How can I connect two computers so they can share files and I can get files from another computer when I’m using the other one?

Oh, and I’m using Windows XP. Help would be appreciated.

simply join the two together with a lan cable of the crossover type.
Must be a “crossover” type.Regular lan cable need a router to work.
Use the lan ports on the back and then “share files”.
