How does Quartz help make glass?

I need help om a Science report that’s due tomorrow, and I can’t find anything that says how Quartz, the mineral could help make glass.

quartz is crystal, which is silicon, which is sand
and glass is sand, so idk

quartz is a major component of glass mixed with sodium carbonate
and fused.Glass is actually a supercooled liquid.
They have tried to measure if it slowly flows over time by measuring
old window pains in 1000 year old churches.
Glass is mostly quartz.

Glass is not fused quartz.
Fused quartz is 100% quartz that is heated until it fuses into a solid
mass.
Glass is a chemical solution.Glass can be dissolved in hot sodium hydroxide
and forms water glass .A common coating for shinny paper.
An adhesive for cardboard boxes etc.
